You know that friend you had in your childhood, that no matter how far apart you were, or how long it had been since you last were together, you would pick up right where you left off? Chris and Stephanie made their entire wedding day teem with that feeling. We shared a special bond of understanding and trust as the events of their wedding day unfolded, and I will always remember feeling like a trusted friend more than a wedding photographer.
I will always remember Stephanie (a high school Science Teacher) schooling me on the difference between crickets and grasshoppers, as we picked the dozens of “grasshoppers” out of the lace in her dress while walking through amazingly beautiful fields to get photos. And Chris, who knows how to speak to my heart by promising to meet up after the wedding for fried chicken and ice cream at Seneca Farms, really knew how to make you feel as though you were a part of the family the whole day.
You guys rock, and I will work with you any day!
Blessings for a rock solid marriage that flows with kindness to each other and allows others to see how to be genuinely humble and loving!
Mitch & Tara
I knew Mitch growing up. We went to school together, played football together, yada yada yada. Time flies by, and Mitch and I graduate and he goes on to do some amazing things, including asking Tara to marry him.
As we reconnected on the phone I could tell that these two were so in love, and not just in the mushy gushy kind of way, but in a way that says they honor each other for who they are and are willing to commit to growing their life together. It was a powerful feeling that I walked away with after that initial conversation about their wedding day plans.
And their wedding day was superstar status, amazing venues, enormous bridal party (which included a bunch of my friends from high school, so that was fun), lake views, beautiful decor, and perfect crisp autumn weather in the Finger Lakes. It was truly magical.
Some of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken are from this wedding. It was truly a magnificent day, and a great start to honoring the commitments that both Mitch and Tara made to each other.
May you two be a light to others, even when difficult times arise. Keep honoring each other and stay focused and committed.
Ben & Sam's Wedding
October weddings in the Finger Lakes region are what every couple should strive for. There is just a beauty here during this time that can’t be matched. Ben & Sam’s wedding day was no exception to this. During the morning, the weather seemed to threaten our staying dry but when the time came the clouds broke and let in the most amazing soft sunlight, it was perfect.
The perfect weather was an added bonus to being able to celebrate the marriage of one of the classiest couples. Ben & Sam, and everyone of their guests were highly regarded by each other. It felt like “old friends” meeting “new friends” and yet somehow everyone felt like family.
I have so enjoyed getting to photograph Ben & Sam. They are naturals when it comes allowing their love for each other show through timeless images. Getting rained on during their engagement session and still coming away with great images showed the power of capturing true connection, no matter the circumstances. So you can imagine that being able to bring this type of connection and experience into great light is a bit magical. And that is how the entire wedding day felt. Each layer added goodness to the one before it.
I want to bless Ben & Sam as they begin their life together. I wish that as you connect and experience things together that the layers of goodness just keep adding to the ones before it.
Isaac & Shelbe
Isaac and Shelbe are what I consider to be the perfect couple to work for. Not only do they love each other well (even in front of the camera) but they are dedicated, hard working people who also happens to look like supermodels. It was an honor to celebrate and witness the union of two people who are just what the other needed. So many times throughout their wedding day they were able to encourage and build each other up, and support who they were as individuals as they become one.
Also, their wedding day reminded me of mine, same location at Norton Chapel on Keuka Lake, and bright scorching sun for the better part of the afternoon. We took everything in stride and had so much fun breaking out for photos at sunset.
I thank you two for the opportunity of working with you on such a glorious day. May you always take confidence in knowing you are the ones for each other, and stay dedicated to building each other up as go through life together.
Ben & Samantha
Last fall we got together with Ben & Sam to talk about their wedding day plans. I know I fell in love, and I was so excited to be a part of their experience. When it came time for our engagement session together the weathermen were calling for rain, and in true “awesome couple” fashion Ben & Sam still wanted to make a go of it, so we did. Outside. About 10 minutes into our session the rain started coming down. We got wet, but we also got some images that I absolutely love.
To make sure we gave the best images possible we got together again this Spring at the George Eastman House. The weather was much better, and we had an awesome time together utilizing every nook and cranny the place had to offer.
I’m so excited to document their wedding experience at Bristol Harbor resort in October, and can’t wait to watch these two become one on that day.
Micah & Chelsea
When I think about Micah & Chelsea’s wedding day there are so many words that stand out. Handsome. Gorgeous. Autumn. Golf Carts. Donuts! But probably the words that stand out the most to me are the following: Confident. Loving. Supportive.
The way Micah and Chelsea love each other is cool. They know exactly what makes the other fulfilled, and they honor those things about each other, and support each other’s confidence in those areas. This will ultimately serve them well in their life together.
Their wedding day was truly perfect. An Autumn day on a golf course holds a special place in my heart, but it simply was beautiful. As we drove around the course in the carts taking photos here and there, something amazing happened, and I love the photo that captured it. As Micah led Chelsea around a pond they were alone together, and it was completely their element.
I loved being a part of the experience knowing that these two have what it takes to spend a lifetime loving each other purposefully. Bless you guys as you start your journey!
Eric & Alysse
Eric and Alysse were created for each other, and I was made to be their wedding photographer. As teachers we all shared a common understanding and a kinship that you don’t really have to explain, because you feel it. This made it incredibly easy to fall in love during their engagement session as we wandered “the back 40” at her parents farm. We adventured together like old friends who’d stay out till dark.
There was such an incredible amount of class and simplicity weaved into their wedding day. I will remember not feeling stressed for a single moment as I tried to capture the details and emotion that went into their wedding celebration.
The cool thing about Eric and Alysse’s story is that it started out with a little back and forth, fused with some disinterest and the like. But persistence paid off and there came a time where they just went for it and knew that they were going to spend their lives together. It’s sort of amazing how two people can simultaneously come to same conclusions about things.
The fact in marriage is that this doesn’t always happen. That’s why it’s cool to see it happen for these two amazing people. May you always give your heart to each other and stay confident in the love you share to carry you through this life together. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your experience!
There are times when I sort of dread family photos, I’ll be honest. I don’t know if that stems from knowing the work I have to do to get our own family photos taken, or from fear of potentially working with crazy kids like mine.
Then there are times when I love working with families. This family is one of those families. They were amazing! They showed up, we picked the spot, talked about the general way that large family sessions work best, and then in the blink of an eye we had done it, a group of 15 people, in less than an hour.
The Elias family is sharp, both in behavior and appearance. The kids were all adorable, and even the young gentlemen were great to work with.
Thank you Elias family for choosing me! Anytime you’re at Keuka Lake you send me a shout, I’ll come running with my camera.
